Rules & Regulations
- The weight-loss competition will begin Wednesday January 20th and run until Wednesday May 5th.
- The cost to participate is $15 which will help to cover the cost of the t-shirts and also be used for contest expenses and promotional material included in your packets.
- This is an individual competition, but we encourage you to get as many people you can from your place of employment to participate.
- The contest will consist of 9 official weigh-ins occurring every 2 weeks, the first being held on Wednesday, January 20th from Noon to 3:00p.m. and 5:00 to 9:00p.m. at the Memorial Building in the gymnasium. The night of the first weigh-ins, we'll be doing a variety of measurements in addition to the weighing. Nurses will be there to take body fat calculations, body mass estimates, blood pressures, take waist measurements and also do core measurements. There will also be a nutritionist there and documentation on eating healthy with some more documentation provided by our major sponsors and the local hospitals. Every contestant will get a great packet of information in addition to an exercise and eating journal for the 4 month period.
- There will be 8 prize-eligible weigh-ins after that on the following dates (notice you can weigh in any time during the day on those Wednesdays or the day prior):
February 3rd, February 17th, March 3rd, March 17th, March 31st, April 14th, April 28th, and then the final weigh-in May 5th. - Contestants will have the ability to win prizes as long as they weigh in that week. There will be a main prize winner for that week along with everyone who weighs in being thrown into a drawing for additional prizes.
- Weigh-in Locations: Fennimore Fitness Locations in Fennimore, Prairie du Chien, and Lancaster, Grant Regional Health, Boscobel Area Health.
- Private weekly weigh-ins will occur at Fennimore Fitness next to the check-in desk. This can be done any time during the day on that Wednesday (24 hour period). Log books will be collected on Thursday mornings prior to 6:00 a.m. to calculate weigh-in winners. You can weigh in and log your weight on the Tuesday before as well. For those who can not make it to any of the weigh-in locations, you will be able to log your weight online. There will be a form to enter in your information and submit to me. For those concerned with privacy, each contestant will be referenced via a number with no name attached to it. You will be given that number at the initial weigh-in on January 20th.
- Scoring is based on percentage of weight loss and not total pounds. The person with the largest percentage of weight loss on May 5th will be crowned Fennimore's Biggest Loser.
- All weekly statistics will be logged on http://www.getfitfennimore.com. You can find everything here.
- The purpose of this contest is to support your efforts to follow a healthy weight-loss diet and exercise program and establish patterns that you can continue long after the contest is over. It is not intended to promote rapid weight loss.
- Even though the focus of this competition is weight loss, we are also looking at your core and the importance of shrinking that area. And you may not have any weight to lose, and that is alright. You can still join. We just want to help you start some healthy lifestyle choices and team up with others to form a support group or workout group so that you can continue doing this long after the competition has ended.
